Fine Dining on the Upper East Side
I'm coming out next week from California. Besides Daniel (which would be my top choice but is booked), what are the 2011 options for the top fine dining restaurants on the UES? I want to stay away from Italian and any steakhouses. Thank you.
Cafe Boulud is the second-tier restaurant in the Boulud empire, but in every way that counts, it is first-rate! Its e.c., Gavin Kaysen, is cooking some of the best cuisine to be found in the city; the wine list is excellent; service is polished and attentive; and the atmospherics are lovely. No requirement to wear a jacket (as you must at the flagship), though many of the men do.
