NEED HOOD ADVISE

We are installing a 36" gas range in an island. We are planning to install the Zephyr Milano S hood. It has 715 CFM. The questions that we have is, do we need to go with a 42" hood given the fact that is going to be located in an island, or a 36" 715 CFM would be enough.
Tanks.

Excellent, this is the type of information we were looking for to make our decision. 42" it is.
    Thank you!

Yes, I will send pictures. The house is under construction right now, so it may take some time until they install the hood. But when they do, I'll send the pics.
        Thanks

A 42" hood over a 36" range is always advisable, more so if the range is in an island.

Do you "need" a 42" hood depends on how much grease and grime you are willing to tolerate in your kitchen/kitchen great room.

I went through the same thought process when considering for our island. DeeAgeaux is right. Bigger is necessary if the range is in an island vs on a wall. You need the strength and the overhang to capture what your range is producing. If this was on a wall I'd do 36 inches but in an island, I'd definitely go with the 42 inches. Had we gone with gas, we would have paired a 36 inch range with a 42 inch hood of the highest cfm that we could get.
