dinner near La Jolla Mariott

I'm staying at the La Jolla Mariott and looking for a fish or vegetarian not-too-fancy but delicious dinner that's moderately priced (entrees less than $30.) Open to any kind of cuisine, would prefer something interesting, and w/in a few miles of the hotel. Suggestions?

Truluck's -- close to the LJ Marriott and nice selection of seafood (barely) within your price limit.

I looked at their 1/2 price bottles at HH and they're sold at a tad over retail price. I would definitely jump on some of the Bolli for $49. That's not a half bottle.

Roy's might just make the $30. limit.

          Roy's is a good call...
Cafe Japengo next to the Hyatt LJ for Asian fusion..they make a calamari salad that is excellent..good sushi too.

when was the last time you were at Japengo's? I had a very forgettable, make that really bad, lunch back in April. So bad that I almost sent it back to the kitchen, which I never do. Overly sweet and unbalanced rice bowl w/ chicken and tangerines that was supposed to be spicy and wasn't. I think if I want Asian fusion in UTC for lunch, I'll be heading to Roy's instead.

Japengo is kind of an earlier version of Burlap to me- very sceney, mediocre food, not bad for a drink or a very small bite for happy hour, but not worth seeking out.
