I would recommend the Dog Watch Cafe or Milagro in Stonington Borough. In Mystic, I happen to love the Vodoo Grill for a laid back lunch, sort of a neighborhood dive with a cajun flare.
I would recommend you take a short drive to Dev's on Bank Street in New London. They are family run and serve Spanish tapas and homemade specialties. The service is great and they have a cozy atmosphere. If you go, try the Miss Saigon (sticky bun stuffed with spiced pork) the toasted goat cheese is to die for, and their corn, chorizo and clam chowder is amazing. The homemade churro with chocolate sauce is perfect paired with their bananas foster. YUM! I want to go there now....

re: MKS
Thanks to all your help we were more than happy with the restaurants we tried.
Arrived Saturday mid afternoon and decided on Dog Watch for lunch. Standing room only. Went to Water Street Cafe and loved it. Saturday night we made a rez at Noah's. Had a bit of a wait so we had a drink at the bar. Shared the same birthday as the bartender that night so we became fast friends. Our dinner was flawless (love the Portuguese influence).
Although our Inn served a continental breakfast we decided to go back to Noah's and had a hearty breakfast. So good. Had lunch in Mystic at the S&P Oyster Co. Very festive and once again had a great meal. That evening had no problem getting a table at the Dog Watch Cafe. It wasn't bad, but probably our least favorite.
Loved Stonington and will be back. Thanks again for your help.

Thank you. Great suggestions. Noah's and Azu were the two places we had on our short list.
Bravo Bravo in Mystic is a consideration. Any thoughts? Also, where to go for the best lobster roll?
Thanks.-----

re: MKS
Bravo Bravo is very good and the same people own Azu. Azu is a little more laid back, bar food and Bravo Bravo is really small and stuffy with iffy service. The owner has a terrible reputation for being difficult and that transfers down to her staff.

The food is very good at Water Street in Stonington. In Mystic we like Daniel Packer inn, the bar is like an English pub, great food. Azu is very good, great atmosphere. Oyster Cub is new, have not been yet or heard any reviews.
