Belle Isle or Neptune..
I know the lobster roll battle is epic --- but i have trimmed it down to two. My question is, I won't have a car for my visit to Boston so should I make the extra effort to take the "T" to Belle or will Neptune suffice.
Thanks!!

One is a dilapidated seafood shack with maybe three stools for wall seating, and the other is an upscale seafood restaurant. They are not alike at all except the attitude of some of the staff members. I think the closest train station to Belle Isle is Orient Heights which is pretty far. Neptune is about two Dwight Evans' stones throws from Haymarket station. I suggest Neptune even though it's out of your price range. I had a Belle Isle lobster roll last Saturday and was disappointed. The Neptune owner is sometimes behind the bar. He can be obnoxiously arrogant. The women at the Belle Isle counter can be miserable and testy.

I think the lobster roll Belle Isle is better, bigger (much) and less expensive than Neptunes. That being said the Neptune roll is good and it's probably not worth the time or effort to take public transportation to Belle Isle which is at least 1/2 mile from the nearest T stop (not sure abut bus routes). Belle Isle also does not have anything else to recommend it in terms of atmosphere, while Neptune presents the opportunity to explore the North End and offers lots of great food beyond the roll.
