Never Blue Asheville
Went Sunday for brunch. Ordered the Huevos Rancheros and Huevos con Chorizo Tacos. Bill came to $18. Very good food. Bacon not as good as Sunny Point, but who beats Sunny Point bacon? Service was excellent and the food came out quick.
I may be a little bias because the Hendersonville location is one of my favorites. Mostly because you can get a pitcher of sangria, an appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert for under $50. Talked to them on Sunday and they said as soon as they get in wine pitchers they will have $15 sangria pitchers Friday & Saturdays. Plus in two weeks they will introduce their featured desert Saints Cake, which they only offered at last spring's Hendersonville Small Plate Crawl. So I'm pretty excited they will have it, since it was by far my favorite dessert with maybe the exception of Tupelo Honey's Pecan pie.

Sixteen of us went last night and it was a hit. Some menu highlights ~ Witch's Cauldron soup of the day was Mushroom, wow! ~ Ch'Dings, duck wings (I think they are really duck legs) in a hoisin sauce ~ Forest Pasta, wild mushrooms and penne ~ Cuban sandwich, a riff on a typical cuban, but with pork belly ~ Spinach Salad was a winner ~ many more, but I can't remember them all. Wine is very reasonably priced as is the food.
Many thanks to our server Sara who managed to keep us well supplied with drinks, food and separate checks!
Lots of gluten free, many vegetarian (not vegan) dishes.
Consensus ~ Never Blue is now one of our regular Wednesday choices.
Note ~ I think the menu on the website for Never Blue on Broadway is missing one page. It had many more items than shown on website.
I'm not really a fan of Never Blue in H'ville...I just feel like the food is adequate and no more. I'll be very curious to see how it does in A'ville where there are so many more restaurants to choose from.
That said, however...I went to the newest Never Blue offshot in Saluda on Sunday, called Blue Gypsy. Again, I wasn't overly thrilled with the food, but the space is warm and inviting, and when our meals were a bit delayed, the server tried to comp the whole Breakfast. I refused, but I thought it was certainly a charming gesture, and an indication of owners who have instructed their people well in how to build goodwill.
