looking for a french restaurant walking distance from wang center

a few years ago my husband took me to a french restaurant for lunch before the show. The decor had black and white, very high ceilings, appeared to have a large extensive bar with much glass that we walked by into a room that had windows overlooking the street. They served carrot sticks with dipping oil/sauce in a paper funnell prior to ordering. does anyone know what place this might be? I'd like to return to this holiday season.

That would be Brasserie Jo, about a mile on foot from the Wang, in the Colonnade Hotel.

Agree, that for sure is Brasserie Jo. It's a good consistent spot. Carrot sticks are definite giveaway. Not that close to the Wang, though.

It does sound like you went to Brasserie Jo. If you are looking for a French restaurant that is closer to the Wang, Pigalle is very nearby (on Charles Street). I do not know the current reading of the restaurant.

There are actually a bunch of French options pretty close by: Pigalle (which has really disappointed me on my last couple of visits), Troquet, Bistro du Midi, Petit Robert Central (all very good of their respective types, i.e., wine-centric high-end modern bistro, regional Southern French in the mid-range, and basic traditional Parisian bistro, respectively), and Kingston Station (decent, with modest prices, and closest to Brasserie Jo's black-and-white, subway-tiled look and brasserie concept.)

Interesting timing: Pigalle just sent me a press release announcing how they're just revamped the interior space, basically an expansion of the bar, I believe.
