Christmas Eve sushi (or seafood) in NoVA? DC?

JoanArkham Nov 2, 2011 01:00 PM

I tried to make an OpenTable reservation for Kushi, but nothing is available. Hank's doesn't take reservations. We don't want anything too fancy or fussy, but I definitely want to be able to make a reservation, so our strip-mall neighborhood places are out. Any thoughts? Am I trying too early for online reservations, or am I (as usual) already too late?

I haven't been yet, but I hear great things about Pearl Dive. I don't know if they are open on Christmas Eve or not.

I don't think Pearl Dive takes reservations.

I'd say too early. Hank's will take a call 15 or 20 minutes ahead and put you on the list, but that's of no help to you. Taro?

I just took a look and there are some good options, in particular BlackSalt is open on Christmas Eve. I went a year ago with my parents and the food was outstanding!

Sei is also open. I really enjoy their sushi and the other small plates.

It's not too early for some of these places. There are a bunch of reservations on Opentable. I prefer both of the above recs to Kushi, which I really, really didn't enjoy.

In past years, Dino's in Cleveland Park has had a "Feast of the Seven Fishes" that might fit your requirements. There currently isn't anything about this year on their website [http://www.dino-dc.com], but you could contact them directly.

I second Blacksalt. For sushi you might also try Sushi Ko or Kaz Sushi.

I'd say it's too early as well. If you wait about 3-4 weeks prior then the options will be more clear and they will have specific menus for the day that you can view.

Thanks...it's just odd for me to plan ahead for anything! I think we're leaning toward Black Salt, but will wait a bit and see if anyone is doing anything special.

Also if you really want sushi you might also look at Zentan.
