Sushi - need to find a really good place

munkygirl1 Nov 2, 2011 09:23 AM

My new boyfriend loves sushi and I want to take him to a really good Sushi place located around the Cherry Hill area or South Jersey area. I want to surprise him.

Can anyone recommend a really great place?

Thank you!

This one is really easy. Fuji in Haddonfield. You will not find better sushi anywhere.
Chef owner Matt Ito is a bit of a legendary character. Word has it that through the thousands of Kaiseki dinners he has prepared over the years, not one dish has ever been repeated.
We have been to several and they are inspired and special

Fuji is very good. An alternate which my wife (the sushi hound of our house) prefers is Ichi in Marlton at Meetinghouse Square. Small, spotless, and excellent.

Beawon Shilla Restaurant, 1720 Marlton Pike E, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003-2301, (856) 751-7388

Excellent Korean BBQ, as good as any that I had in Tokyo. Their sushi/sashimi is also quite good and very fresh. Same ownership as the HMart directly behind the restaurant so they ARE their own fish market ...

The BEST sushi/sashimi in NJ is SHUMI - in Somerville, NJ. Hands-down and no question about it. The very best day to go is Friday as they get in all the fish for the weekend that morning. So Friday lunch/dinner is the very best time to go, and reservations are recommended as it isn't the secret that it used to be. But that's a bit of a hike for you guys, if you aren't making a day of the trip.

I agree with the above. Fuji in Haddonfield is the has the best sushi around. many of my friends from Philadelphia bypass the restaurants in Philadelphia to go there. Probably the best in NJ (north and south).
