NY Times Dining Reviews
The long decline of the NY Times Dining section is depressing. Grimes, Bruni, Sifton and now Eric Asimov.... again. Is it really this difficult for the most important restaurant review section in NY to attract someone qualified to be a food critic. There are people on Chowhound that would make better food critics. Next, the post will be held by a former comic strip writer or a journalist that developed his/her chops by covering figure skating.
What's your objection to Eric Asimov? He's qualified to be a food critic. He started the "$25 & Under" column in 1992.

The NYT indicated that they would not be naming the new critic until the end of the year...so Asimov is likely just filling in for the meantime. At least that is how I understood it...there might be reviews from different people in the interim.
