ISO Toronto's Best Café

You know. Great coffee, good pastry (even one), warm comfortable atmosphere with a little personal space, newspaper, and a leisurely hour to kill...

Would appreciate knowing where you like to go.

    Thank you all,

The Lazy Daisy and the Rooster both look good (at least from the photos). To clarify, I know many small restaurants serving a variety of food (including sushi) are called cafes, but I meant the coffee / pastry focused places.

PS Best wasn't the best choice of word, please substitute "best" in the title with "your favorite".

Can't say they're the "best" in the city but during the week, the Rooster on Broadview and Ezra's Cafe on Dupont have everything on your original list (not the European feel). Lovely places to chill out with coffee and a pastry (prefer the pastries at Rooster).

I'm thinking something with a European feel. I've searched CHOW but am I missing something ?

Cant say im a cafe expert, though ive been to quite a few, mostly east end spots. I really like the new Lazy Daisy Cafe on Gerrard at Coxwell. Spacious, comfortable, appealing and bright space, friendly but professional staff, and really yummy food made from ingredients sourced from local, organic farms. Can't say I've spent a lot of time there, but it looks as though they have a winning formula, especially judging by their popularity so soon after opening.
