I'm looking for a special favorite resto -- Church and State has gone downhill in my mind and too pricey, but I love that kind of atmosphere. Any suggestions? THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Aburiya Toranoko or Lazy Ox Canteen... They're sister restaurants, next door to each other.

      Chaya Downtown.

They have a Sunday Night special: $25 prix fixe, and 1/2 price bottles of wine. Here's a link to tonight's deal.

Water Grill and Cicada are both open Sunday night, and are both very good.

If the OP thinks Church & State is too pricey, Cicada Restaurant and Water Grill are definitely heading the wrong direction price-wise.

Bottega Louie has the same atmosphere, maybe the Lazy Ox Canteen.

If you are willing to venture a bit out of downtown you might look at Silverlake with The Kitchen, Local or Blair's Restaurant or Echo Park with Allston Yacht Club, The Park Restaurant and Masa of Echo Park.

Awww, thank you so much. I really appreciate the tips.

I think I felt C&S didn't merit the price because it was rather mediocre in my mind...

            You have great suggestions...thanks again.
