Decent food in Tukwila?

We need to spend most of the day in Tukwila and all I can picture is chain restaurants. Anyone know of a decent place for lunch and a drink? Thank you.

    I also recommend the Southcenter sushi restaurant Miyabi. Not the broadest selection of fish but well prepared, and they tend to celebrate special events (such as the Japanese summer harvest festival) where you can play games of skill, win beer and specialty foods are served.

      Thanks to the both of you. I posted this pretty late and checked the thread when we arrived in town. We ended up at Bai Tong (just as they opened) and had a fantastic lunch. I highly recommend the crispy garlic chicken! What a pleasure to drive past the Claim Jumper, Applebee's, etc. to discover some truly delicious food.

        Glad you enjoyed! I frequently meet clients in Southcenter area (easy mtg. place when they come up from Tacoma, and I go down from SEA...), and I cringe frequently when they want to meet at Olive Garden, Claim Jumper, etc.! I am always suggesting something else like Bai Tong, or Cedarbrook Lodge:)!

        If your budget isn't too limited, take a look at Copperleaf at Cedarbrook Lodge http://www.cedarbrooklodge.com/copperleaf_restaurant.php. It's gotten rave reviews since it opened to the public (Cedarbrook used to be the corporate training and conference center for Washington Mutual Bank before they imploded).

        There are a few decent places in and around Southcenter mall. Bai Tong is one (although I've never been as mad for it as a lot of people). Others I'd suggest are Racha Thai http://rachasouthcentermall.com/default.aspx and Duke's Chowder House http://www.dukeschowderhouse.com/ both of which are in the mall. Grazie Ristorante http://www.grazierestaurant.com/ is also quite good.

        If you don't mind traveling to a nearby suburb, there are a lot more good choices in Burien, a 10-15 minute drive from the airport. I highly recommend La Costa Mexican Restaurant http://lacostaburien.com/ and King Wha http://www.kingwha.com/. The Tin Room Bar & Grill http://www.tinroombar.com/ and Elliott Bay Brewhouse http://www.elliottbaybrewing.com/loca... are also good.

          Yes! If you like thai food, the BEST thai resto in Seattle area is right next to Southcenter;
          BaiThong! 16876 Southcenter Parkway, Tukwila - (206) 575-3366

          Originally started by ex-staff of Thai airways to give the flight crews food from home on their layovers, they have attracted people from all over the area looking for authentic flavors, and some less- usual dishes on their menu (in addition to the more western favorites).
          Nice atmosphere, good service; not a hole in the wall, but a nice destination thai place - with a full bar. Yum!
