Fish Skin Dumplings?

I'm re-reviving this topic which was first started by a Bay Area hound a few years ago, then revived by myself last year when West Coast Seafood (now Osaka Seafood) started serving fish skin wontons. I'm one of the leading cheerleaders on the Chowhound boards for the pre-eminency of Los Angeles area Chinese food in the US, and indeed the significant narrowing of the gap with the Chinese food in Vancouver and Toronto. But gee, I spend a week in Texas and I find Chinese food comparable to Los Angeles, plus varieties that I don't see here. Moving from Houston to Austin, I find a restaurant in a shopping center anchored by a Pic-n-Save serving fish dumplings wrapped in a fish wrapper. I haven't seen that here. Has anybody else? The same restaurant also serves clams in rose wine sauce, rice balls in rice wine sauce, and fried rice buns among numerous interesting offerings. Now Austin does have enough of a Chinese population to warrant a "Chinatown" shopping mall similar to San Gabriel Square, but these varieties were certainly unexpected.

Did you post about these spots on the Austin and Houston boards?

Posted about Ivy's Deli on Austin board. Will post about Jade Garden, as well as another restaurant, on the Houston board when I get a chance.

      Were they any good?

Can't just have novelty for the sake of novelty, I suppose.

Very good. I wish I could get them here. Osaka Seafood continues to carry the fish skin wontons, but they're filled with pork.
