Are there any restaurants serving Heritage turkey?
I just learned of this type of bird and would like to try some without having to buy a whole bird and roast it myself. Anybody know of a restaurant that serves these?

Chris Cosentino of SF's Incanto Restaurant is cooking heritage turkey at a dinner for Slow Food Russian River on Sunday. Heritage turkeys for Thanksgiving raised by 4H clubs will be auctioned off afterwards. More info,

I know Willie Bird sells heritage birds and they run a restaurant in Santa Rosa. Might call or email to see if they serve heritage birds at the restaurant.
I stopped in at their restaurant on the way up the coast. The restaurant itself is vintages 70s and nothing special but the food was very good for what it is. The turkey was excellent and everything subtle...as good as mom ever cooked.

re: Robert Lauriston
At $12 lb for a whole turkey. Good to know they sell pieces. I'll have to se the price for those as I was thinking "That's $120 for a 10 lb bird .... really?"
The black heritage turkeys are from BN Ranch in Bolinas.
Had the heritage turkey soup at Gaumenkitzel today and it was excellent. I have no clue if it was due to the type of turkey, but it was a rich, deep intense broth. Lovely sweet carrots in it as well.

Gaumenkitzel in Berkeley on San Pablo
They always seem to have Heritage turkey schnitzel, but the current menu (pdf) lists
- Soup of Heritage Turkey with autumn spices and vegetables, served with Spätzle.
They update their specials online daily. Last night they had some sort of roast heritage turkey , the leftovers seem to be making soup today. You might call them to ask what else they are planning. BTW, you can also get unbreaded schnitzel

If you can wait until Thanksgiving Day, there are usually a few restaurants serving Heritage birds
