great dessert in Brentwood, MDR or SaMo (near a SugarFish location)

Need a GREAT restaurant for post-sushi dessert/coffee for 3 gals, in one of the following locations:

Santa Monica Promenade area (2nd and Santa Monica Blvd)
Brentwood on San Vicente (near Barrington)
Marina del Rey (in/near the shopping center with SugarFish and CPK)

Hoping to focus on restos for dessert recommendations (so I can figure out which of these 3 SugarFish locations we will go to) and not get too sidetracked with how many CHers don't care for Nozawa's chain-let. :-) I have a gift certificate so it's a free meal...

Thanks!

    Does anyone have any opinions about dessert at the following -- I looked at their menus and they sounded good:

    Promenade-->
    Border Grill
    Locando del Lago
    JiRaffe
    Fraiche

    MDR-->
    Cafe del Rey

      Another thought is Bar Toscana. It is across the street from Tavern and Sugar Fish. They have a few desserts and some delicious dessert cocktails.

        Great idea! I've been there for drinks/appetizers before but haven't ever had dessert there -- just looked at the menu and the dessert cocktails sound wonderful, as do the desserts! Thank you Maudie, for this suggestion!

      Sweet Rose Creamery in Brentwood. Wonderful house made ice cream. Love their Fresh Mint with Home Made Chocolate Chips. Great seasonal flavors too like Cheesecake with Huckleberry Swirl.

        Only a few steps away from Sugar Fish in Brentwood is Tavern. Their "Snickers" Bar is one of the world's great desserts. Have the dessert in the bar or in the Larder if you are coming in after dinner.They also make excellent espresso.

          Maudie--thanks, I've eaten in the larder and had lunch in the main dining room at Tavern, but I've never had dessert there. Have you had any of the other desserts besides the Snickers bar? I am a mutant--I've never cared for Snickers bars so I would need the other desserts there to be really good.

          Good to know that they make excellent espresso -- this will be good for my friends, who I assume drink coffee. (Yup, another weird thing about me, I don't care for coffee, at least not as a drink). One thing that makes me go bananas at Tavern is that while they have made an effort to serve loose leaf in cast iron pots, they then ruin it by putting WAY too many tea leaves in the basket so my English Breakfast overbrews quickly and tastes very bitter/too strong/tannic. Last time I was in the larder for breakfast I was sitting on the bench next to another tea drinker who said the same thing about her black tea too!

            Here is the current dessert menu:

            I agree with you about the tea. I now ask them to bring me another pot of plain hot water with the tea. The Snickers Bar isn't really like the candy bar as it is a frozen dessert with homemade nougat in the center, fresh peanuts, decadent chocolate and served with vanilla ice cream. It was featured recently in (I think) Bon Appetite or Food and Wine

              How funny Maudie -- I've began doing the same thing with the extra pot of hot water. Great minds, right?

              Oh, thanks so much for the Bon Appetit link -- while it looks divine, I'm afraid it's not for me--I intensely dislike peanuts/peanut butter in cookies, desserts, with chocolate -- I'm weird!

              The churritos, cookies and hot fudge sundae sound good, though!

          Sweet Rose Creamery is a good choice.
          Other options might be SusieCakes (Brentwood) or Vanilla Bakeshop (SM), but they close around 7pm which may be too early for you.

          There are a couple places you can get dessert inside The Market at Santa Monica Place - maybe a souffle from Rockenwagner Bakery?

            Souffle sounds like an option--thank you. I didn't realize Rockenwagner had a location at The Market (haven't been to SM Place in a while)
