Did you know Tigeorges' Haitian Chicken reopened? Bigger and better than ever?
I was saddened to see that the store front below Echo Park had burned in a fire. I wasn't sure it would ever open... Well it did about 10 months ago but it wasn't until I drove by today I saw it was open.
Today my friend and I had the smoky half chicken lunch special. The beans and rice are amazing. So was the the side of plataños fritos that we split. The fried green plantains were especially great when we wrapped it around the avocado wood smoked chicken an added the garlicky Ti Malis Sauce.
The tasty vanilla lemonaide and cafe au lait made from beans grow on his plantation in Haiti were another treat.
This is more of a lunch place and was about half full at 12:30. The owner Georges takes you order and is very proud of his little place.
He told me about an article in the LA Times today that mention him:
307 Glendale Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Yeah, I read that article I believe that was mainly about his coffee.
Damn, I passed by their a couple weeks back and thought it was still closed. But since it was a Sunday, then maybe he's just naturally closed on Sundays.
Now since it's open, I'll definitely have try it out again for the first time. I've been thinking about TiGeorges for the past year or so. For lack of a better term, is the smoky chicken somewhat similar to jerk chicken?
I read that article and again thought "Man! I have to get there!"
What a talented and kind gentleman.
