Texas Monthly BBQ Festival....Who's going?

I'm wanting to see if any Chowhound fans are going to the Texas Monthly BBQ festiva? I'm for sure going.

I elected not to, given the spike in ticket prices and increase in tickets sold. Sure it'll still be awesome though, last year's event was great.

How many tickets were sold/what was is the expected attendance? I see GA tickets are $65, Sold Out. The last thing I want to do is spend $65 to stand in long lines all day. Uh-uh. That's been my experience at other venues similar to this.

Last year, at a few of the winning stands, there was leftover meat at the end of the day. We had folks saying no thanks - that they'd eaten too much already. I think that they're still dialing this festival in honestly. They have sold more tickets this time and we'll see. Lines last year were long at Snows, but you could get samples really from anywhere you wished....

well you pretty much nailed it. I suppose you could make the calculation that you would easily spend $60 trying to hit multiple pitmasters in one road trip, but then, you wouldn't do all that driving for 2 small slices of brisket either. Lines were long for all the heavy hitters (Snow's, Franklin, City Market).
