Gluten Free Cornbread?

Stewgs Oct 26, 2011 10:53 AM

hosting a friend with celiac for dinner, and I would like a cornbread to go with our dinner. Don't have time today to pick up xanthan gum, etc, and bake one. Does anyone know of a bakery or store in the SF/peninsula area that sells gluten free cornbread? Thanks!

I know that Country Gourmet in Sunnyvale makes GF cornbread. I would check in on Mariposa, Crave Bakeries. Also, there's an entirely gluten free grocery store in Marin called Sans. They would know for sure.

My sister has celiac. For future reference, we just replace the flour in cornbread with standard GF flour (Bob's Red Mill) and don't do anything else to it. It comes out fine. Nobody can tell the difference.

You will probably get many more responses if you post this on the "Home Cooking" board

Most don't routinely stock cornbread, but most grocery stores stock cornbread mixes that would be just as fast to make as to drive around and pick up. cornbread doesn't store well, so not easy to find premade.

You could call gluten free reviewer grocery in the dogpatch
