Cheap, Healthy, and Filling Meals
I'm realizing I should have a healthy meal from time to time. My definition of healthy is pretty loose. Things I've been eating that I qualify as healthier choices include sushi, Ukrainian (such as Stage Restaurant and B&H Dairy), Falafel Sandwiches, Ramen Soup, Soba. I've kind of run out of ideas for myself though.
My goal is to keep the meals under $10 and should be very tasty and filling. I'm not a big fan of making salad an entire meal either.
Neighborhoods of preference include: East Village, Lower East Side, Chinatown, Gramercy, Soho, West Village. But, I'm open to recommendations in other area too.

Mooncake has lots of tasty, Asian-inspired healthy options. I am a big fan of the octopus over spinach noodles. Most of their menu items are under $10. I go to the Hells Kitchen location but there's also one in Soho (I think it's their original, actually)
Also, you can try places like Fuel Grill & Juice or Dig Inn (formerly known as the Pump) Have to admit I haven't been to the latter since their name change; per their website the menu has stayed the same, but can't vouch that it's as good. Not as big a fan of Energy Kitchen (another similar place), as their food has always seemed a little wimpy to me.
Both Fuel and (formerly) the Pump are going to have less salt and oil, so some find it a bit bland or dry compared to other takeout, but it is filling and definitely worth checking out to see what you like. You definitely don't have to stick to just salads to find healthy food!-----
