Lobster Roll in Riverhead closing after this season

Sort of surprised I must admit, they are always mobbed during the season. But they are being auctioned off next month and Fred Terry will not re-open next year irregardless of whether it sells or not. Claims he's going to start a chain of Lobster Roll Express take outs instead.

Lobster Roll in Amagansett will stay open though.

Just heard Boulder Creek in Riverhead is also closing, but since I've never eaten there can't comment on that.

Times are rough, I must say.

Thank goodness it is those two restaurants closing. I never liked either of them.

Local newspaper reports that the owner has decided not to close. He'll ramp up the menu, get into catering, the food truck business and open a fudge shop and bakery in his barn located on the property.

Yeah he didn't get any offers on the restaurant. I stopped there to get some puffers to take up to Mom's last month, and the food we took out was terrible. And seemed more expensive than usual. Guess they don't care anymore?

I won't miss Boulder Creek. If I want a great steak I go to "The Vous" Rendesvous on Main St. and keep my money local along with having a quality meal. The chains just don't do it for me.
I won't miss Lobster Roll either. It's withing walking distance of our home but as hard as I tried I could not seem to get a memorable meal there. Even the lobster roll (really chopped up lobster salad, not chunks) was disappointing. I go to Canal Cafe or Chowder Pot Pub for an excellent lobster roll.
I hope someone picks up the ball at that location. I hate to see empty businesses. We have enough of them on Main St Riverhead.

I know it's sad either way. Hoping that Cliffs actually put them out of business....don't mess with Riverhead! I will miss the fried blowfish at Lobster Roll though.

Cliff's and JR's did it. I can only hope that the few peple that did go to Boulder Creek support the local restaurants.

J&Rs put a few people of out business! Can't beat their prices. Don't know I never think to go there....oh guess I always think Cliffs.

We got a gift card from JR's. It was good and inexpensive but can't compare with Cliff's. After all is said and done Cliff's is a great value too.
