Hi all----
Has anyone had a good or bad experience or have any recommendations about Christmas Eve dinner? I checked the holiday website for offerings and I'm considering Galatoire's, Commander's Palace, Upperline, maybe Pelican Club???? We've been to Galatoire's & Commander's but not for this kind of fixed menu thing.......
Any ideas or thoughts welcome ! Thank you in advance !

  1. Last year we had a beautiful dinner on Christmas Eve at La Provence in Lacombe.

    1. I like the hotel restaurants, since the hotels are beautifully decorated. Rib Room at Omni Royal Orleans or Sazerac at The Roosevelt would be lovely.

      1. We have had Christmas Eve dinner for three years now at Impastatos in Metairie. Very nice atmosphere normally with someone either singing Christmas songs or playing a horn in the background of our meal. Normally like a 3 or 4 course meal on the Eve, quited packed so reservations are a must. Great Italian, warm, cozy, Christmas feeling every year.

        1. We just had Thanksgiving dinner at Commander's Palace and loved it! Judging by how they handled that holiday, I bet they'll do very well with Christmas Eve. The menu offered a lot of variety--they had special holiday choices as well as some of their traditional menu items. You picked an appetizer, an entree and a dessert, and they had some additional side items that you could add on. The atmosphere was fancy but festive, and the service was stellar. I think they're a safe bet for your special holiday meal.

          1. A couple of years ago, we had Christmas eve dinner at Bayona. It was perfect....sweet environment, lovely staff and excellent food. It was a romantic, yet festive environment.

            1. Agree with Edible on the suggestion of The Sazerac. Hotel is beautiful and I find the food at the Sazerac delicious ... fabulous gumbo. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve at Commander's are family traditions and you usually have to wait for a family to die off in order to
get a reservation for those evenings.

              1. The Rib Room at The Omni Royal Orleans would be very nice for Christmas. August Restaurant is also very nice and Mila would be a good choice. They are open on Christmas. They are not hotel restaurants though. Here's a link to NOLA restaurants open on Christmas. I love Galatoire's which is a NOLA institution. Brennan's is one of my favorites. It's been around a long time and the food is very nice.
