cake with caramel glaze.. how well will it travel?

rstuart Oct 25, 2011 02:23 PM

I need to make a cake for a meeting at work tomorrow, and have to be able to bring in via public transportation. So no crumbles toppings or frosting/icing.
I was thinking of making Dorie's brown sugar bundt cake with pears and raisins.. but was very intrigued by Food 52's applesauce cake with caramel glaze (recipe here:
)How well do think the glaze will travel though? Don't want to fuss with toothpicks etc.. want something I can wrap and take...

What you need is something in which to carry the cake, a box or a metal or plastic cake carrier. If, however, you have to wrap the cake up in plastic or foil, the glaze will come off just the way the icing would. It will taste fine but not look too pretty.
