wondering if anyone knew where it is now

Yeah - miss that place! Also Schraffts near the Sullivan Sta T stop - although I always thought their candy was g-awful...

Kendall is a good candy outlet on Spinelli Place in West Cambridge. They are a wholesaler, but bust out some really nice stuff in their retail shop including Lindt at very good prices.

not sure if you are thinking of this but for a while after NECCo sold their signature space on Main Street in Cambridge, they used the space, right across from Lechmere and had a tiny outlet store there. They have moved over somewhere in the REvere area, I know how to get there when I'm behind the wheel (must be an internal divining rod for chocolate) but sorry, I cannot tell anyone how to get there.

I think it was the Haviland chocolate outlet which is now part of NECCO.

It was Haviland on Cambridge Street across from the T station. I remember going there with my father and buying chocolate covered peanut clusters. I wish they were still open.

I remember getting the plain white boxes of nonpareils and peanut clusters for around $2 each. That place was great. Those were the days.

Yes--we used to get boxes of chocolates at the outlet store--I think it was only a dollar a pound at one time for "cosmetically defective" chocolates in plain cardboard boxes. It was Borden, then Haviland, then Necco bought Haviland, and moved their whole operation out of Cambridge.

Is the Tootsie Roll building on Main the only candy factory left in Cambridge?

Right, it was called the Borden outlet. The last time I went there was '91 or '92.

That was a candy factory and the building is now condos. The factory is gone, not relocated.

At breaks, the mostly women workers who come outside wearing white coats and hairnets.
