Best places for pre-theatre dinner near San Diego Civic Theatre?

Looking for suggestions for places to go with a good pre-theatre menu and that's walkable to the Civic Theatre.

All of those and Downtown Johnny Brown's. The menu is simple, the beer menu isn't and it is in the same complex as the theater. Not a place to go if you are looking for a fancy place as part of the experience of the night, but I see a lot of opera patrons in there before performances. Beer and tuxes, an odd juxtaposition.

After the performances (for opera at least) the cast and crew go to Johnny Brown's for dinner and beer. Great place to get autographs annd meet them.

I've really tried to give Downtown Johnny Brown's a fair chance. While the beer selection is more than respectable, this really isn't a place to go for good food. I'd say grab dinner elsewhere and hit it up for a drink after the show.
