Stella Rossa Pizza in Santa Monica
Is it pretty darn good? for the westside, which is better this joint or pizzeria il fico, on robertson, both of which i believe recently opened within the past few months.
Also, is Stella Rossa in the same location as the now-defunct La Grande Orange on Main Street?
Thanks.

I have to disagree with Tracy S...Stella Rossa pizza leaves Gjelina in the dust...crusts are not even comparable...!

The pizza is quite good, but I didn't find it as mind-blowing as some other posters have reviewed.
My standing favorite on the westside is still Gjelina and Pitfire Pizza is a very acceptable quick/cheap alternative for me.

re: TracyS
TracyS,
really?couldn't disagree more about Pitfire AND about Gjelina; both of them are, imho, ok pizzas, but not anywhere near the bar that Stella Rosa sets.
Being a fan of Gjelina's food, in general, i pop in there whenever i can,
Still, i never bother ordering the pizza when i go there.

Haven't tried Stella Rosa yet, but it's next to M Street which used to be called Le Grande Orange. From what I hear, the owners parted ways, one of them taking the name with him, the other keeping the menu and the site.
Their morning buns are THE BEST and I've never had a freshly baked English muffin until I ate here.
Will report on Stella Rosa ASAP. -
yes consensus is that it is very very good. search for any of the latest pizza threads -- good one here
