Pepe's in Manchester- Recent visitors?

Has anyone been recently? We have some friends in town this weekend and they would like to go, New Haven is not an option for us this weekend.

The last time we went the line was terrible and we will be going on Saturday night. I don't mind waiting a little bit but I do not want to wait outside for more than 20 minutes or so. Inside waiting is not a problem but it will be cold (Yes, I am a wimp)

Any insight on wait times recently?

  1. We were there a couple of weeks ago and usually go about once a month. The pizza has always been excellent, as close to the original as you can get. We usually go early (around 5:00/5:30) and have had little or no wait for a table. In fact the last itme we were there we walked in and had our choice of tables and I am pretty sure it was close to 6:00. Later though a small line formed but certainly not the long lines they use to have a year or more ago. Still the early you get there the better. Jay

    1. I find the Manchester location to be just as good as the New Haven location. If you go before 5 you won't have an issue. Frankly I got tired of dealing with the parking and crowds at the New Haven location.

      1. Not suprisingly, I agree with Jay and bigboy. I grew up 10 miles from the original but now visit the Manchester location regularly. It would be so easy for me to be patronizing and pooh-pooh the spin-offs. But from a purely objective standpoint, Manchester is as close to the original as one could hope for. (Which is to say, there is a certain amount of inconsistencyat the original, and in Manchester as well.) As for crowds, we almost always go on Saturdays and usually arrive before 5:30 and the longest wait that I have had in about 20 trips is 20 minutes.
