Birthday Resto in the Annex

Hi all,

Looking for a restaurant in the Annex for a friday night dinner around 7:30pm. There will be about 8 of us so a place that handles reservations is important.

Seeking a restaurant that has a fun/loud environment, would be less than $50pp including alcohol, and sharing plates would be a bonus.

Last year we went to Nyood, looking for something similar but in the Annex.

If you can go a little south to College street you'll have many more options for a good quality meal in a nice environment. I can't think of a single place in the Annex that takes reservations that I would go to for a celebration dinner.

Torito is a good bday place, and not too far on Augusta.

Yes, they take reservations. (it's been about a year now)

I like both Sidecar and Grace on College. Acadia is also there but a bit higher pricepoint.

I live in the Annex, and there isn't anything in the neighborhood that comes even close to qualifying as a bday restaurant based on food and/or atmosphere. That said, Guu might be the closest, but it doesn't take reservations.

I think Insomnia takes reservations and it might fit the bill.

Guu is by far your best bet. Have one friend go 45 minutes early to place the reservation and give them a phone number. I've never waited longer that that with a group of eight, and it's by far the best birthday experience in the Annex.

Thanks for your responses. I was thinking Guu originally, but the fact that they don't take reservations worries me.

Are you sure they will take your phone #? I just called and the woman said they won't take a phone #, but will yell our name out the front door when our table is ready. Going with ~8 people, it isn't practical to have to wait for an uknown amount of time. Hmmmm...
