Stem Ginger in Syrup -- source in LA?

Hi. I'm embarking on Pierre Herme's chocolate cookbook. Recipe #1 calls for stem ginger in syrup. Found it online, but not at Surfas, 99 Ranch, Gelsons or Bristol Farms. Anyone know where to find this product locally?

Thank you!

The only ginger syrup I know of for purchase is the sweet ginger syrup which accompanies Chinese "dou hua" (soft tofu), which is a popular item for breakfast and dim sum.

You can buy dou hua at 99 Ranch in the tofu section (usually in the refrigerated section of the store). The soft tofu is in a large plastic cup, while ginger syrup itself is in a separate container. It's meant to be added at the last moment before consuming, which is why they're packaged separately. Both containers are packaged together for purchase as a sole unit.

    Bonne chance!

Some of the British supply shops carry in on occasion. Surfas does occasionally as well. Maybe try Bay Citiies as well.
