Family restaurant suggestions in Marlboro/Manalapan/Freehold etc. area

Any suggestions for a good place to go with the family? We live in Manalapan. I'm getting tired of our usual places. Has anyone been to The Firehouse Restaurant in Marlboro yet? Thanks.

I can't tell you enough how fabulous the food is. Evertything I have ever had there has been amazing!!! (located in the same plaza as Avanti Salon) It is a BYO, which is great! We bring our 1 year old there all the time and Svetlana, Albert & Marina could not be more accomodating! Try it tonight, you will want to go back again and again!!

Do Shirin has anything for kids? Mine kids are 5 and 2. I know they probably don't have chicken tenders & fries :) but I am wondering what i can order for the kids if I take my family to a place like this.

My nephews (5, 7, and 9) eat here with us all the time! (they may be an exception, because they are little foodies, so they will try anything!) We usually share a rendezvous salad or an Armenian salad...Rendezvous has beets, cabbage, some meat in it all mixed together tableside..almost like a delish cole slaw. The Armenian salad is full of red beans and some meat.

The vareniki is a great kid choice! Like little potato dumplings served with sour cream. The kutabi had greens in it with fresh dill.(spinach and dill) soo good!

The kids love the samsas....stuufed iwth pumpkin or meat. They LOVE them!

My nephews really like the lamb shish kabobs and the chicken shish kabobs. The pototoes are thin sliced and fried crisp with a spinkle of dill. (or you can have rice instead)

Honestly, my 1 year old eats everything we order there, and my sister has no problem with her 3 boys. The food and place makes you feel as if you are visiting friends instead of dinning out! Plus, the Russian music on the flat screen TV's make it a fun night out with your husband and kids! :)

It is WAY better than any place that once to serve the little ones chicken tenders and FF! Maybe take out a few things at first, but I think the place is so nice and quaint.

It's outside the box. I am not Russian or Uzbecki and I love the place. I understand many "Americans" won't try the place because they are simply use to all the processed food served to us! Yuck! I suggest trying this gem!!!!

Thanks for the reply. I think the chicken shish kabobs with rice will be my answer to what to order my kids.

Tried this place for lunch last week. Food was great. I wish they have a lunch menu though.
Tried the bread, chicken soup with dumpling, beefstrangnoff, quail with meat. The food are definitely tasty but I must say it is a little bit pricey (maybe it's just because I was expecting to pay dinner price for a lunch). Bread is not free. Entrees does not include any sides. It does seem and taste like everything they make is from scratch so the price is justified.
All in all, food is good in this place and definitely an asset in this area.

      3. I don't know if my kids (7 and 5) would eat anything there either....but then i'm not sure my husband would either! i would probably like it. We actually ended up at The Firehouse Restaurant in Marlboro this past Saturday. The food was good and I'd go back to try other menu items. The servers were very nice, but inefficient and we waited a long time for our food. I think they were overwhelmed since the place was so crowded! It is very kid-friendly. The kids got fire hats and sat on the "firetruck". there are also a lot of tv's but most of them were playing kid shows (Sponge Bob, ICarly). They could mix it up and play sports at least for the adults. I had the Ultimate Cheese Steak which was really tasty, but the fries were limp. My husband had a Black n' Blue burger which he said was overall good but slightly overdone. Wings were ok, not as crispy as I liked. the kids meals were good. One kid had the chicken fingers which were coated in Captain Crunch..they were very tasty. Prices were good.

Foods aside, I think it is very smart to have a restaurant geared toward kids at that location. It's next to a Party Jungle and the Mini Golf place. If their food is okay, they should do very well there.

Back to family/kid friendly restaurnt, Little Saigon (Vietnamese) is an option. I can order pork chop with rice for my kids while me and my wife enjoy the Pho. They also have spring rolls which i think kid and adult can enjoy together.
Pom Pom BBQ in Rt 33 Millstone and Mo' Green's BBQ would be the other places i can think of. Neither of them have waiter services but you can't go wrong with tasty ribs, chicken, fries.
Coal fired pizza in the strip mall with lights on 9 is another place for me if kids like pizza or meatball or wings.
