anyone been and have any recs? planning a party for 9 and want some suggestions for menu. thnx.

V is awesome. Probably the best thing in the panhandle right now. Tried it last week on the last day of our vacation and really ended up pissed that we went anywhere else (Cafe Thirty-A really was disappointing from beginning to end, and Cafe Tango was solid but DAMN pricy). This area is rampant with "redneck fine dining" as I've heard it called (expensive, dumbed-down fine-dining with a southern twist) but V is accurately described by vitaminD as South Beach-esque cuisine. Service is far from perfect but the food we had was very creative (which is rare in this area), beautifully presented, and nearly perfectly cooked. With a few tweaks to the beer list (far less exciting than other places in the Destin/30A area) it will set the bar as the place to beat in the area.

Just want to echo that we had an excellent experience at V. Will return next time we are in South Walton.

Just returned from three week trip through NOLA and Charleston, culinary highlight of our trip was Chef Derek's tasting menu at V. Our only regret is living so far away. Service at the chefs table was excellent-great wine director as well!!!!

The food was okay, and the service was really lacking. And when did a 15 min. sales presentation of their hotel/condo development become acceptable before hearing about dinner specials?!? We were really disappointed in how our party was treated throughout the night...sigh.

Wow, that was absolutely nothing like when I was there, sorry to hear that.

V is our new "south beach" type restaurant; the food is inventive for the area. For a group, contact the restaurant to arrange your dinner. Beware the pricing. Us locals are not yet comfortable witth the by the piece plating and pricing. The bar, however, is quite the place to be.

I contacted the event manager about 2 weeks ago, but am told they cannot set a menu until a few days before as the menu changes daily. I've looked at their catering menu as well as their online menu and was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for specific dishes. Their pricing is quite proud, so I was hoping for some feedback on the menu.
