What has been yummy, what has been not so, and what has been your overall experience of SRW?
Thanks for posting...

Ate at Lark and had their SRW meal last Monday. Just checked their menu and it looks like they have modified it from what I had. Started with a beet salad with blue cheese dressing, then the fish entree and finished with the ginger cake. The salad and fish were really good, I was not wild about the ginger cake. I hadn't been to Lark in a while but the service and atmosphere were excellent. Will be going back soon!

I represent the majority of Seattle Chowhounds. I don't know what SRW means. Care to explain, Niles?

re: PeteSeattle
Glad you can get on board PeteSeattle. I didn't mean to be weirdly exclusive by using the term SRW; I just thought by now, after 3 years, twice a year, Chowhounds would know what I was talking about.
Forgive me if I was obtuse about it, and should have spelled out Seattle Restaurant Week....

Afraid I avoid this and Dine Around as best I can. 3 course meals don't really work for us, so it just adds cost and excess food.

re: tsquare
Tsquare,
My french BF and I like to have multiple courses, but often that get's expensive, so we cook at home mostly. Can be as simple as home-made chicken liver pate, followed by potato gratin and lamb chops (potatoes cook while he works still and I get there, pate made ahead, chops quickly grilled with rosemary..), and a pear and some cheese to follow.
It is nice to have the chance to go to resto's we haven't tried for the 3 courses - to us - to get, we hope, an idea of the style of a restaurant. The courses are never big, and sometimes not as representative of the main menu as we wish. ( we allways at least read the main menu while there to compare, and see if there is something off- deal) we should have to help us know the house..)
The reason for my thread, is that sometimes that ' soul" of a resto doesn't appear on the SRW menu, sometimes, happily - it does!
Just looking for discussion and feedback about other's experiences during this time to check out places for, in theory, a reasonable deal.
And, so you all know, I am not cheap, just interested in what is possible' what the resto puts into the event .; they chose to participate, so I assume they want NEW customers, and want them to come back (as well as fill seats during the first cold, wet days when we all will often stay home and cook there rather than go out).
I just want to discuss how anyone who tries a new place liked it, that's all... and how the reasonably priced/ vs. vallue menu was..

I did not mean to write anything you needed to defend against - no one was answering your request, so I was just explaining why I have not been going to SWR. It's really too long a story and not CH worthy to explain further.I think you go with just the right approach and am enjoying reading your experiences. I used to do Dine Around too, no more unless I just happen to be at a participating restaurant during that time and can't resist. But that means bringing the entree home!

re: tsquare
Oh! Tsqare, you did nothing off-putting, and I understand from what I read that you just prefer less courses/food, or something along those lines.
I think you are glamorous and svelte for not wanting even three small courses as they are set in something like SRW; not alot of food, just different choices and moments created by the courses, as we see it.
Had dinner at Crush Wed. Will write review tomorrow. Some very mixed feelings. Some of the food great, but, overall, if we were not very in charge of our experience - in a nice way? Seems the food, service, etc. would have been off. There was a CRUSH at Crush, to say the least. I think I now don't go for 'hip' foodie places during a discount. Thanks for your kindness, Tsqr, you are a good CH, and I am sure we will relate on these 'pages' again.
More on Crush meal when I am less tired of rain, and looking forward to asian broth and dumplings at home:)!
