group dinner help!

hi!! i'm trying to find a restaurant for a group of 12 people that's relatively close to the Sheraton at Bay and Queen. In terms of types of food, people like anything except Indian or Sushi. We also have 2 vegetarians in the group (most people prefer mean, but the veggie people will need something!) In terms of atmosphere, we want something fun but where we can also hear each other talk because it's a catch-up dinner. Last, if you happen to know of somewhere with round tables, that would be ideal. I just moved to Toronto so I don't know the restaurant scene well here and would really appreciate any help offered!!

Le Select and Biff's might also work with a group of 12. Not sure if they've got round tables to seat 12, but might be worth calling to find out.

Marben offers a $50 prix fixe- with a veggie option. Slightly above your price range, but might be worth it. http://www.marbenrestaurant.com/menus-0

Volos is close to Sheraton, and might be another option to consider. Haven't been yet.

For that size I particularly like La Maquette - they set up a square table (3 people each side) so you can talk to any/every one. In particular their private 'Cathedral Room' (I think you can order from the regular menu there) plus they have a less private space as well.

I suspect Nota Bene might be a bit more expensive - but certainly that's the top place, although I find it VERY noisy. I went to LUMA with a similarly sized group and would NEVER return - the food was a disaster - just couldn't seem to manage a group that size!

LUMA in the Bell Lightbox might be a good choice, last time I was there they had a large group in and split them over 3 tables of about 12 each. Service is excellent (servers all go through the "service academy" at Canoe) and the chef is really accommodating, with a little advanced notice he could even go off menu to accommodate the vegetarians although that's not necessary as there is a wonderful vegetarian main on the current menu ricotta gnudi.

Thank you guys!!!! Great suggestions. I'm wondering if either of these places would come to under $40-50 per person before alcohol and tip.

You could do an app and a main for about $50 pp at either place.

Nota Bene is not too far, and they have large round tables, though I don't know if they are large enough for 12 (I sat at one with 9, no problem). It's not really "fun" per se, as it's a bit upscale, but it's a good place to hear each other. Food and service are very good.
