Meeting for dinner between Santa Barbara and LA with old friends. Ideas?

We are staying Santa Barbara where some friends who live in San Francisco will meet us. We plan to meet some friends from LA somewhere in between Santa Barbara and La for dinner. The couple from SF will just be coming off a 3 week cleanse and don't wont anything too heavy. The rest of us are up for anything. Anyone have suggestions?

Our friend from LA now wants to meet at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley. It really looks like a gastronomic wasteland there- only chain type places. Does anyone know anything NOT plastic in that neck of the woods? All your suggestions look so much better than what I found!

Best bet would be to head back to Thousand Oaks - there is a Mastro's Steakhouse (not best steakhouse in LA, but pretty near top of this list fr the Thousan Oaks area) - a bit closer to LA, and better food imho but still in that area is The Grill on the Alley on the Westlake/Thousand Oaks border (both Mastro's and Grill on Alley not far off of the 101 Hwy - so a quick drive from the Reagan Library)

Savory in Malibu is what you want. Great restaurant, chef driven, etc.

Foodie Ma - Do you know why Savory's website is down? At least it was yesterday. Are they changing chefs I wonder? I haven't looked at Eater LA or Grub Street LA, but when a "high end" restaurant takes their website offline for some reason my antenna goes up...

Andria's Seafood in Ventura. Their fried fish is awesome and they also have grilled options for lighter fare. You don't get much fresher than this place.

Fisherman's House Sushi may be a bit casual and closes at 9 but I hear great things.
          On my bucket list.

There is Moqueca Brazilian Cuisine in the Channel Islands Harbor that is really unique, Savory in Malibu/Point Dume, Saddle Peak is great, but really towards LA, not exactly half way.

Closer to LA than Santa Barbara (25 miles vs 60 miles but with LA traffic it equals out) I love Saddle Peak Lodge. Known for their wonderful game meats they also have seafood and lighter dishes. Great food and service in their one of a kind beautiful rustic Malibu Canyon setting.

The Sunset in Point Dume is a perfect spot and almost exactly halfway.

It will be a Friday. I suppose we could eat early- did you mean to be done eating by 8pm?

the restaurant that i was thinking of only serves lunch on friday, no dinner.
they are not open at all on saturday.
so, this idea can't work for you.
