This weekend it's Barbecue Shepherd's Pie. Tried to talk Smoke Daddy into a haunted barbecue for halloween and little Michael seemed down with it but guess not. I haunt this place year round anyway. Happy Halloween everyone and watch out for flying snowballs on mischief night if the weatherman is right.

      Carbs,
You've been raving about this place so long, I've go to try.
Having sworn off oink and moo years ago, I'll be heading over for some fried chicken sometime this weekend. Any sides that are a must-do?

My husband and I got some takeout tonight for the first time. We got the fried chicken, ribs, burnt ends, brisket and sweet potato fries. I listed them in order of our faves - the fried chicken is awesome - the ribs are good, even better when dunked in their bbq sauce. Brisket was tender and flavorful, maybe a tad dry - but still good. We'll be back - enjoy!

CP, I like the baked beans partly because Daddy adds little bits of pulled pork to them. I usually get collard greens (again seasoned with meat) and smashed potatoes because they go so well. The cole slaw is tasty too. Hmm, if you are abstaining from oink maybe you should go with the sweet potato fries. They are not open sunday and it's easier to call first.
Glad u liked ssturn. When I got my fried chicken on thursday they said they sold a lot of it! It's hard to get good fried chicken and kind of a pain to make at home. I got a portion of the shep pie too. It was even better than the one Daddy made late last winter. That boy continually outdoes hisself.

Better luck next weekend or did you go CP? Doubt he had electricity. This area had one thousand four hundred calls about power outages when I called PECO about three pm ish today. I was without power for six hours today but I really feel for the local businesses who got socked by the storm.

Yeah, next weekend, Carbs. Saturday afternoon until early Monday morning I was powerless and home bound. TG for the wood stove and my cell phone. Spent Saturday and Sunday evenings eating leftover Moroccan chicken stew listening to WXPN by candlelight. Could have been worse, I guess.

Heh. Yeah Daddy likes to call them sammiches in his emails that I signed up for. I went on thursday but might be back for more today. Gotta go early tho before he sells out. The crisp weather is making me crave robust food.

              Delucacheesemonger,

Interesting thread in which many posts go beyond my knowledge of English usage. The evolution of short cuts to facilitate texting or electronic communications is understandable and has been seen over the years in many forms. Hundreds of dialects have evolved based on regional or group use of terms and pronunciations, which is also understandable and functional. Many of the words and usage I notice today seem to me to be based in ignorance, sloth, and a penchant for baby talk. In a similar vein a Philadelphia public radio station presenting Jazz and Classical music has a host (DJ) who, for me, enhances the music he plays with his comments. For some reason he is now calling himself BP and introduces his program as BP with GM. What is that? I enjoyed reading this thread ,the wide range of opinions and intelligent arguments. Thanks for the link.

              Ah Smoke Daddy...

I am no 'fried chicken expert,' but I had a piece of his fried chicken last week and thought I'd died and gone to heaven. AMAZING.
