Jerusalem Dinner

We'll be in Jerusalem one night; staying near Tower of David and Jaffa Gate. Recommendations for dinner please. Would prefer something "regional" and not terribly expensive (I know that's a fuzzy set) and within walking distance of our hotel.

  1. If you're looking for regional (I assume you mean middle eastern), inexpensive and walking distance, then your best bet is to walk to the Old City. You won't find great food, as it is only tourists who eat dinner there. The Armenian Tavern is probably the best of a mediocre lot, though the ambience is nice.

If you walk in the other direction, it's not too far until you come to the main restaurant district of Jerusalem, clustered in the area below Zion Square. My parents used to stay at that hotel, and would walk to a place called Cavalier, which was good, but not middle eastern and not particularly cheap. A place called Adom is good also. Best thing to do is walk around until you find a place you like.

If you want good middle eastern then you'll have to go to East Jerusalem, but it's not walking distance.
