Is there a wait just to get a slice at Di Fara?
i'm renting a car tomorrow with my parents, visiting from out of town, to take them around where they grew up in Brooklyn. Undoubtedly there will be plenty of eating throughout the day, so rather than get a whole pie at DF i'd rather just get them a slice or 2. Do you have to wait in line there for a slice, or can you just walk up and get one to go? This will be on a friday around lunchtime.

That link you provided is no help at all. I know about the wait for a pie. I'm asking whether or not you have to wait in line, and for how long, just to get a slice.

It is pretty unlikely that you just walk up and get one without a wait, but the last time I was there which was a Friday around lunch time (12:30 or so) last month, there were round pie slices available without a wait, and I waited about 20 minutes for a square.
Your mileage may vary.

The OP really ought to have a backup plan.

Just wanted to report back, we showed up at DF around 3PM yesterday, 2nd in line (though about a dozen or so people were waiting for pies), and after the person in front of me ordered, I ordered and received 2 slices right away, ate (enjoyed immensely) and we were on our way. Thanks all for the comments and suggestions.

I too have had success at 3pm bit I also have experienced abject failure by way of an infinitely depressing "out of dough" sign.
