West Indies Soul food truck!
I'm usually the last to know anything, but just in case I'm not, this time ...
There's a West Indies Soul food truck in St. Paul on University. Ave, across from the Sun Foods Asian grocery store. A block or two east (?) of Dale, I think, on the north side of the street, mid block. YAY!
I saw it as I was speeding east on University, and immediately careened into the left lane for a reckless u-turn. I got some rice & peas and jerk chicken and a corn muffin and some real (not bottled) ginger beer. All this food was $9, and it was more than my niece & I could eat between us.
They told me that the truck is there Wed - Sat, from noonish on, through the end of October (give or take a few days - depends on the weather). The Jamaican patties might be Saturday only, but much of the past menu is available, including the wonderful curried goat. I knew my picky niece wouldn't try the goat, so I had to pass this time. (Luckily, she adores the spicy ginger beer, so there's some hope for her tastebuds.) Next time, though, that goat has my name on it.
Best of all, Dale & University is well past the Central Corridor construction, at least this month, so it's relatively easy to get to.

i loved the food at the brick and mortar west indies soul restaurant on uni, before it closed, and to tell the truth i never thought the MGM stand lived up to it. does anyone know what i mean? i am wondering if the food truck is a step up from the MGM stand. . . dare i hope it's as good as the restaurant once was?!? what do you think?
