eating at the bar in Charleston

Looks like I may have waited a bit too long to make reservations at some of the restaurants we are interested in for next week. One of them is FIG.

What are the chances of dining at the bar in most of the charleston restaurants?

There are a number of places where you can eat at the bar. I've done it at Cru, Magnolia's, Pearlz, Amen St., Hank's, SNOB, Fish, and Muse.

FIG is a great place to walk in and eat at the bar.

Great, that is what we will probably do. Might do for most of the trip. I'm the one traveling with the fussy sister so this way lets us look over menus first before deciding on eating there.

My husband and I like to eat at the bar in most restaurants. It's fun and friendly. A good way to meet people.

Leaving Saturday for 3 nights in Savannah and 4 nights in Charleston. I'm ready and cant' wait.

Have you tried calling FIG? sometimes there might be a table that doesn't show up on opentable (if that's what you're trying). I've always had good luck walking in there...have actually never eaten at the bar because they usually let us sit...although I'm willing to eat pretty early.

              Guten tag, y'all!

KathyH, some of the bars in the nicer places can get crowded because it's so much fun. danna is right. If you can't get a table, and you want one, walk in and ask.

Will do. We are flexible in our plans and willing to go with the flow so to speak. Can't wait to chow down on some good southern cuisine.

I liked FIG very very much. Also have to put in a word for the bar at Peninsula Grill. Went with a friend after dinner and they had no problem serving us dessert along with our drinks (and the coconut cake is truly wonderful). I've also eaten at tables there and loved it, so it's a hit all around.
