Looking for Easy Rye Bread Recipe to add Chernushka seeds to
On the NY Not NYC Chowhound board, I got tips and finally located Chernushka seeds! Those are little, black, peppery seeds that are put in some European Rye breads. Someone on that board also suggested that now that I have the seeds, perhaps someone on Home Cooking would have a rye bread recipe for me.
I have never baked bread, but am anxious now that I've got these seeds that bring back so many fond childhood memories. Does anyone have an easy rye bread recipe for me? I don't own a bread machine, although my mother in law used to have one, and she's deceased now. I did inherit some of her things, so perhaps I do have a bread machine, but if so, it's burried in a mess in my basement! So let's say that I don't have a bread machine!
Thank you in advance for your help!
I'm a recent convert to the "no knead" bread making method and I've had very pleasing results! My earlier attempts have all yielded heavy, dense loaves with not a crust to bring home to mama. I've seen plenty of rye bread recipes online. A quick google search for "no knead rye bread" will get you going in the right direction!
This is a super simple soft rye and you can sub your seeds for the caraway listed in the recipe. I also enjoy Chernushka seeds on pizza crust and I following a recipe for rye pizza crust dough that would also work really well: http://burprecipes.blogspot.com/2009/...
