Dinner Rec for Sat in Houston Heights area?

Hi,
We just moved to Houston a couple of weeks ago from KY and are living in north of the beltway and Tomball Pkwy area. We are looking for a dinner rec for this Saturday night. We'll be in the Houston Heights area. We like all food (prefer something other than Mexican this time). Will be casually dressed so no fine dining this time.
Thanks for your help.
Sheila

I like Zelko Bistro. Simple but great food & good wine list. No problem being casually dressed. The only drawback is that they don't take reservations. Then again we've never had to wait terribly long.

Another fun casual place is BB's. A Cajun food stop. It's a Houston chain (3 locations I think), but they make the best shrimp poboy I've had outside of New Orleans.

On the Washington Ave corridor my latest fav is Coppa. I can highly recommend the tuna app, the carbonara, and the lemon semi-freddo with pastachio brickle. Yum! Doesnt feel like a casual place that much, but most everyone has been dressed casually the few times I've been.

I also like Mardi Gras, just thought I'd give a few more options.

I still haven't been to BB's, but one of the servers I know from Mardi Gras is from New Orleans, and she loves BB's.

Okay, you're making me jealous now! I think I may need a road trip to MSY soon! Sad about Mothers. Used to love Copelands, but haven't been in years. If you havent been to BBs, be sure to give them a try. I've only been twice, but it was delish!

I like Mardi Gras Grill on Durham, just south of the Heights. It's got good Gulf Coast seafood that you probably wouldn't find in Kentucky. My favorites are oysters Louisianne, oysters poached in buttter and wine, creole crab dip, seafood courtbouillon, and some of the best fried oysters in town. They also do a good chicken fried chicken, the star here is the cream gravy, which is made to order. They have really good boiled crawfish, in season, which is in the spring, unfortunately. Casusal dress is in order here.
