Charlotte - Business Dinner for a Group - Uptown

I'm in charge of planning a business dinner for 8 people in Charlotte on a Tuesday night. The group is going to be coming from a meeting in the Uptown area (South College between East 3rd and East 4th Street) and would like to be able to walk to dinner. We are looking for entrees in the $20 - $30 range. Any type of food would be OK, but the restaurant needs to be conversation-friendly and somewhat dignified, but not stuffy (tough distinction, I know!). We did Mimosa Grill for lunch the last time we had one of these and it was fine but I don't think it would be right for a dinner. Would Kalu be appropriate and close enough to walk? The website is under construction so I can't even see a menu.
Many thanks for helping out!

I think Halcyon or Harvest Moon would be good choices, although Harvest Moon is somewhat small and has lots of hard surfaces, so I'm not sure how well it would work for a large group.
I would avoid Kalu; their chef recently left and many reviews are poor, although I personally have not been.
McCormick and Schmick's might be a good choice, even if it is a chain. Savannah Red, in the Marriott gets good reviews, but again, I haven't been. Perhaps others who have could offer an opinion. Vida would be good, if mexican is an acceptable cuisine. Same for Room 112, if sushi is acceptable.
How about upstairs at Aria? They also have a "Chef's Table" for up to 8 people but I'm not sure what that means. Special tasting menu or just location in the restaurant? I had a good meal there during Restaurant Week.
