Thanks Jill. Really looking forward to having Cathy's pizza within walking distance of my house and work (but not looking forward to the effect it will have on my pant size!)

They are now offering preview dinners directly through their site, too: http://www.ovenandshaker.com/

I lucked into a spot on day 2 of their paid trials. I was in town for a couple of days and having heard the buzz about great pizza- walked by in the afternoon and was graciously offered a spot in what was a sold out evening.
For $50. you eat and drink what you want (although the price might be higher-and sold out now- as they dial things in).

For only the second night the food and service were pretty impressive. As you can imagine there were no shortage of cocktail orders and it was crazy watching the bar guys keeping up while basically being slammed solid for 3 hours.
All critiques of food or drink were immediately addressed with more and better versions replacing anything that was brought into question.

The food menu rotates each night of the trials with only 4 pizzas available along with 3 salads and a bunch of apps when I was there.

I tried the Dinosaur Kale salad with grapefruit, pecorino, toasted breadcrumbs and an anchovy vinaigrette. It was really good and reminded me of the Nostrana salad with the tangy dressing and lots of texture.

I wanted to try something different for a pizza so went with the Brussel sprouts, bacon, mozzarella, robiola and garlic version. A great combo. The sprouts were the individual leaves sprinkled over the pizza and nicely roasted. The pizza crust was really good, a bit sturdier than Nostrana but great texture and comes sliced.

This should be a fun place once they have the full menu.

                  They open officially tomorrow, btw.

I went to the F&F event last night and really enjoyed everything we tasted. JillO, let us know what you think!

I was there too! ;o) It was fabulous - the food, the drink, the space - everything.

I loved the kale salad, the arrancini and the pizzas. And I had a drink called a Pineapple Trainwreck that was delicious - fresh pineapple, spicy ginger, anejo, bitters - so good!

Glad to hear you liked it also!! I had the vodka drink that was served in an old-school champagne glass and it was very good! Wasn't a big fan of the arrancini (evidently there were 2 kinds) but everything else was great. Looking forward to it finally opening - hopefully the noise will be better once thing settle down.
