Capitol Grille at the Hermitage Hotel Nashville

mwest9 Oct 17, 2011 04:45 PM

On my recent trip to Nashville, we ate in the Oak Bar at the Capitol Grille twice. I was impressed with the Brunswick stew, a superbly smoky pork flavored dish in a tasty tomato based broth. The lima beans were tiny and didn't ruin the dish for me (I hate lima beans and definitely would not have ordered it if I knew they were there, I was surprised to enjoy them). The next day, the Pulled Pork sliders were less impressive, with only one BBQ sauce instead of the advertised three sauces.

I like what they are doing here, heirloom Southern food that is not overly heavy or overly fried with high quality farm produce and meats. I'd recommend it, but you might want to stray off the happy hour menu and order from the regular bar menu when in the Oak Bar.

I love the onion bisque that they serve at the Oak Bar. So good!

I love it ALL at Capitol Grille! My favorite location is in Las Vegas....second floor overlooking The Strip! What a view.

The CapitOl Grille at The Hermitage Hotel in Nashville has no relationship to the CapitAl Grille restaurant chain. CG is an 100-yr old, independent, chef-run, farm-to-table, fine dining restaurant.

Thanks for clarifying, TLF. A Vegas location definitely didn't sound right to me. :)

Yes...yes...my error!! I was referring to the Capital Grille and have been to many of their locations including Las Vegas, Atlanta, Chicago and Ft. Lauderdale. The Capitol Grill is not connected with The Capital Grille owned by the Darden Corporation.

You eat at Capitol Grille when you go to Vegas?

NO...in Las Vegas the restaurant is The Capital Grille, which is NOT associated with The Capitol Grille in Nashville. Do I eat at The Capital Grille when in Las Vegas? Of course. Somehow....free food always tastes better. I am comfortable with the quality to meet or EXCEED Morton's of Chicago, etal.
