Giacomo Italian in Greensboro

Anyone know if Giacomo's market is still on High Point Road? It's been awhile since I have been up to Greeensboro and I am getting conflicting info from web. We get some of his products in Charlotte, but not the variety he carried at the store. Thanks

It's probably been 2 years since High Point Rd. closed. Pastrami is still wonderful as are his Italian sausages. I can get pastrami at Weaver Street, but need to make the trip for sausages.

That's weird, I always see their sausage sampler packs at WSM but not their pastrami. If you like pastrami you should try the stuff The Pig produces.

Thanks bbqme. I've seen sampler packs of different sliced salamis. I'm looking for hot and/or sweet Italian sausage. I usually shop at Southern Village but I'll go into Carrboro and take a look.

I bet if you asked WS they could get some in for you. They always seem very responsive to customer requests in my (limited) experience.

excited to know Giacomo's makes a pastrami. Suddenly there is a pretty high bar for pastrami in the area between the Pig, Neal's, Cane Creek/Weeping Radish, and Giacomo's.

Wouldn't it be nice to do a tasting?

ISTR Weeping Radish has items at the State Farmers Market now, not sure about the pastrami though.

I was in Greensboro last Tuesday and dropped into Giacomo's Italian Market. They told me that they sell both the little 8 oz. salami's (also available at Guglhupf by the way) and several of their cold cuts at the deli at WSM.

Some bad news: The Pig has not been making their pastrami for at least a couple of weeks now. I have dropped by there two times now only to be disappointed. When asked they told me something about not ordering the meat. I know they locally source their meat so maybe there isn't local beef brisket at the moment.

I hope The Pig resumes making pastrami soon.

There is a new butcher in Asheville offering a lot of house cured items. If they do pastrami we could have a "Mountains to the Sea" tasting!

I'm looking forward to checking them out on my next trip to Ashevegas.

I forgot to mention, I enjoyed the cold cuts at Giacomo's but their bread is quite bad. The bread I got was dense, hard, overly chewy and perhaps a little stale. I've been ruined by the freshly baked bread at Banh Mi Saigon.

Google Giacomo's Italian Market in Greensboro and the correct new address comes up. Unfortunately I didn't do that and ended up at the closed location.
