Wet Burrito

Growing up in the midwest a lot of "Mexican" restaurants had wet burritos on their menus. They were flour tortillas filled with meat or chicken and refried beans. They were then drenched in a red sace and smothered with cheese. Can I find something similar in the DC/NOVA area?

Went to anita's yesterday. The fairfax location. It was truely one of the worst meals I've ever had. The food was cold, overly salted (I'm a salt addict saying this) and really greasy. Overall just a poor experience. How can they serve food that is cold.

I've been a long time anita's customer. I think it will be a long time before they get my business again. Would have had a better meal a chipotle.

Not quite Mexican (and beans also on the side) but Anita's in NoVA serves burritos smothered in sauce. I love their love red chile sauce.

Los Tios in Del Ray makes a mean burrito. Chicken is smothered with green salsa and beef is with a red sauce. Beans on the side though.

Los Tios is okay, but not fantastic. Unfortunately, the wet burrito isn't that popular around here. It's what I grew up with. The idea of eating a burrito without a knife and fork was absurd in LA in the 70s and 80s.

I remember fondly the Chicken Chimichanga from El Asadero in Salt Lake City, smothered in a wonderful Salsa Verde.
