Solo diner looking for great beer and local seafood in downtown Vancouver

harken banks Oct 16, 2011 05:19 PM

I'll be in downtown Vancouver with an evening to kill while on an upcoming business trip. I'd love to hear some suggestions of a place where I can have some local beer and local seafood. When it comes to beer, I love IPAs. For seafood, I love it all, but especially oysters. Thanks!

I'm super curious about Oyster Seafood and Rawbar (rawbar.ca), which looks like it would fit half of your requirements. I haven't had a chance to try it so can't really recommend it, alas, but it is right downtown. FWIW I love the look of it from the outside, and the idea of the Art Deco interior. Anyone else been?

Rodney's for Oysters. Then jump in a cab and head to the Alibi Room for some brewskies.

I would think that Chambar fits the bill. Good beer selection, and good mussels (and other seafood too).

Chambar's great for Belgian beers, but I don't recall seeing much in the IPA range.

For the beer, Alibi is hard to beat. They're tapping a Driftwood Sartori Harvest IPA cask today - one of our most delicious.
I don't know what the beer selection is like at Joe Fortes but they do host beer dinners from time to time (and grow hops on their roof, I've heard) so they might have some decent taps on offer.

      This is a no-brainer - Rodney's Oyster House, or Joe Forte's.
