No stovetop- how can I cook my broccoli rabe?

Recently, I bought a huge quantity of broccoli rabe because it was on sale for 99 cents/lb. Unfortunately, when I went to cook it, I found that the spark module on my gas range wasn't working, so I can't use the stovetop until my landlord fixes it (which probably won't happen for awhile).

Usually I blanch it so it's not so bitter, then sauté with some garlic, pepper flakes, and olive oil. Is there some other way to cook it that doesn't necessitate the use of a stovetop? I can use my oven. I assume you can't it eat raw.

Any help would be really appreciated!

Thanks everybody! I ended up roasting it, which worked really well!

Do you by any chance have a microwave or an electric water kettle that you could use to heat water for blanching?

If not, I agree with escondido that roasting is the way to go. Try drizzling with some honey or syrupy balsamic to offset the bitterness. Or, a little lemon juice sprinkled on after roasting could help.

Or you can heat a bowl of water in the microwave until it boils and use it to blanch the broccolli rabe. Then remove and continue cooking covered in the microwave until desired texture.

Toss it with olive oil, garlic and salt and roast it in a large pan in the oven. It will be a little bitter but wonderful too.

my gas range works by lighting with a match when the power is out. Have you tried that?
You can roast greens in the oven at 375 tossed in some olive oil and salt and pepper until tender.

this. if its gas you could still use a match/gun lighter!

or you could always braise it, roast it, micro it, grill it...
