Anything new and dinner-worthy in the MagMile/Loop areas since Dec 2010?

Breadcrumbs Oct 16, 2011 10:49 AM

We normally visit Chicago a few times a year and it's definitely one of our very favourite food cities. That said, we haven't visited since December 2010 so before booking my reservations, I thought I'd do a quick check to see if there was anything new you'd recommend we try?

Thanks!!

A couple of new places in that area that seem to be getting a lot of favorable reviews are Chicago Cut Steakhouse, and GT Fish and Oyster. You can also check out Chicago Magazine's "hot list" ( www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/O... ), and their most recent article on best new restaurants (from May - www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/M... ).

However, chances are, many places you haven't been are still outstanding, even though they didn't open this year. Heck, that's true of most of us residents as well! I've been to only 6 of their 21 choices for best new restaurant in 2010 ( www.chicagomag.com/Chicago-Magazine/M... ). I'm not saying that their ratings are any better than anyone else's, but I'm using it to make the point that few people have been to most of the good restaurants in Chicago, even ones that aren't all that new. The best dinners I have had in the Chicago area in the past 12 months were at Michael, Deleece, Boka, Sable, Inovasi, and Piccolo Sogno - none of which opened in 2011, and two of which have been around for more than five years.

I'll check out GT Fish online nsxtasy and you're quite right, we always balance our reservations between our all-time faves and, new finds/recommendations. I'm just prioritizing my "new" selections.

This is a shorter visit so I can only pick 2 new-to-us selections this time.
