Monday Eating Out in Toronto (city)

Hi, a lot of places are closed on Mondays. I have a narrowed list of some of Lower Downtown/Below Queen St restaurants. Which one of these would you pick and why?

If you know of a better place between say Bathurst and Church/ Front and Adelaide, and they are open on Mondays, please add.

Remember, this is a Monday. So it's about good food and good ambiance not necessarily blowing your bank account (hence why Canoe is not on the list). Also, Nota Bene is not here because we've both been. (same for Trevor, Brassai and Lucien - which was horrible).

Thanks! Your help is much appreciated!!

  1. Scarpetta is about 50% more than dinner at Canoe.

    1. Virtually all those places you could spend as much as at Canoe. But Buca would be my choice on your list, personally I think it's one of the best restaurants in the city when one considers the whole package of food, service, decor, and vibe.

I completely agree about Buca. The food is great & I prefer going during the week because it's easier to get a table. Starfish would be my 2nd choice. Love just eating oysters & drinking wine.

      2. Meeting your location requirement and they are open on Monday is Khao San Road:

Won't blow the bank, but, the "ambiance" depends on what you are looking for. Definitely not fancy, but, the food is good.

If it helps, I'm entertaining a friend and client who is visiting from out of town. So for ambiance, not too casual, professional but relaxed and good food. Good "street cred" since we are foodies and some of what we like is listed above, plus places like Pangaea, Earth, Ultra, etc. Thanks so much for the insight!!

        2. Bannock is a good spot Miranda
